Three Pathways Into GPU Architecture
From self-paced reading to hands-on lab work to facilitated team learning — a structured pathway for every stage of your hardware literacy journey.
← Back to HomeOur Teaching Methodology
Veyl's approach to hardware literacy treats AI accelerator concepts the same way a rigorous reference text treats engineering topics: each idea is introduced with context, developed with enough detail to be useful, and connected to the ideas around it through explicit cross-references. The goal is not to produce learners who can recite specifications, but learners who can reason about hardware trade-offs when they encounter them in the field.
The three programmes below address different starting points and different modes of learning. They can be taken independently or sequentially — a learner who completes the Reading Track has a strong foundation for the Lab Companion, and a team that has sent individuals through individual tracks gets more from the Team Knowledge Programme than a team starting cold.

PROGRAMME 01
GPU Fundamentals Reading Track
A self-paced reading track that explains how AI accelerators handle parallel workloads, memory hierarchy, and tensor operations in approachable terms. Designed for students and working professionals stepping into machine-learning hardware for the first time.
Includes structured chapters, plain-language glossaries, diagrams, and short knowledge checks. The track covers roughly eight modules on architecture concepts, throughput ideas, and how software communicates with the hardware.
- CUDA core organisation and parallelism model
- Memory hierarchy: registers, shared memory, L2 cache, HBM
- Tensor core purpose and matrix multiplication overview
- Throughput vs latency trade-off reasoning
- How driver software and compute libraries interact with hardware
LEARNING PROCESS
- 01Receive module access and orientation guide after enrolment
- 02Progress through eight modules at your own reading pace
- 03Complete knowledge checks at chapter boundaries to consolidate understanding
- 04Submit questions by email; receive responses from the content team

PROGRAMME 02
Hands-On Lab Companion
A guided workbook of practical exercises that walk learners through inspecting hardware specifications, reading utilisation dashboards, and reasoning about workload sizing. Aimed at developers and analysts who want to move from theory to applied understanding.
Includes worked examples, sample datasets, and discussion prompts for study groups. The twelve-session companion is supported by reference sheets covering the most commonly referenced specification metrics.
- Reading GPU specification sheets for relevant metrics
- Interpreting utilisation dashboard outputs (memory, SM occupancy)
- Batch size and memory bandwidth trade-off exercises
- Workload sizing reasoning with provided sample data
- Study group discussion prompts for each session
LEARNING PROCESS
- 01Receive workbook, sample datasets, and reference sheets
- 02Complete each of the twelve structured exercises in sequence
- 03Review worked examples for each exercise to check reasoning
- 04Use discussion prompts independently or with a study group
PROGRAMME 03
Team Knowledge Programme
A facilitated learning programme for engineering teams that want a shared vocabulary around AI compute planning and hardware literacy. Delivered as a sequence of workshops focused on concepts, terminology, and operational decision-making, with materials tailored to the team's context.
Includes facilitator-led sessions, a reference handbook, and follow-up Q&A. Structured as a multi-week engagement for groups of up to fifteen participants. Workshop examples and scenarios draw from the team's actual work environment after a pre-programme context session.
- Pre-programme context session to adapt materials to your stack
- Facilitator-led workshops across a multi-week schedule
- Printed and digital reference handbook for all participants
- Post-session Q&A to address follow-up questions
- HRDC claimable for Malaysian employers
ENGAGEMENT PROCESS
- 01Initial enquiry call to understand team size, background, and goals
- 02Pre-programme context session; materials adapted to your context
- 03Facilitated workshop sequence delivered over agreed weeks
- 04Follow-up Q&A session; handbook and resources delivered
